Bluebird

Bluebird

The blue of your eyes sings in me
Takes me to the top of the pines
Freeing me to be
More than the sum of my rhymes
Right up to the edge of time
Fleeting, in this moment, still
Cresting this precipice, as I climb
To such great heights, only to fall
Your smile so wide, as is mine
My heart lying between your teeth
With a word, everything in me spills out
As we twist and turn between these sheets
Breathlessly I try to hide
Knowing full well what you see
Deeply, down into my core
Deep inside the heart of me
